As a writer, I am very weak. However, I used my speech skills to make the speech seem very applicable and interesting to the audiences to listen to. I tried to take an approach of being less formal than everyone else because I wanted to take the chance to do something unconventional, which will drag the attention of my fellow classmates and make them interested in what ever I presented. I have learned that being less formal actually helps some times because it gets the audiences to feel like they are participating and is a part of the speech.
I have always had the tendency to speak faster when I am on stage and the peers seem to have noticed the same thing. It was very pleasing to see high scores that I received from my peers, but I personally think that I could have done better. More eye contact was another issue I had while presenting the speech. Although I have practiced the speech several times, my nerves apparently took over my brain and help me forget all the things that I have memorized. Through this speech I have learned a few things. It is the fact that everything depends on the speaker. If the speaker is good, no matter how bad or sloppy the essay is, It will sound good and vise-verse. I enjoyed this speech by both presenting and evaluating my fellow classmates!
